Compound Development Team Leader

Genmab has a robust pipeline of innovative human antibody therapeutics and a number of strategic partnerships already in place with international blue-chip companies. The company is continuing its positive growth and development, striving towards its goal of improving the lives of oncology patients with significant unmet medical needs.

To further strengthen and support this growth, Genmab has identified the need for a Compound Development Team Leader (CDTL). The CDTL will be responsible for leading a cross-functional international Compound Development Team (CDT) and will be accountable for high quality execution of development plans whilst also managing project progress, costs, resource allocations and timelines.

Key Responsibilities
The CDTL will be part of the Project Management Department and will provide visionary leadership to team members across research, non-clinical, clinical, medical, regulatory affairs, CMC, medical affairs and commercial departments to guide and motivate a high performing CDT to ensure it meets team goals, objectives and performance metrics. As CDTL you will:

  • Build team effectiveness, and lead the CDT to achieve its goals through the networks of people/functions represented on the team. When necessary, negotiate with line function heads on project deliverables.
  • Challenge all functions on the CDT to ensure that all issues and questions are being addressed, and that line function input into strategy and plans is adequate to meet the needs of the compound.
  • Identify potential issues and lead contingency planning; lead CDT problem solving and apply decision-making tools and techniques. Drive CDT to make effective and efficient decisions.
  • Lead resolution of conflict at the CDT, Project Board (and potentially Portfolio Board), joint steering committee (for a partnered compound) and senior management levels.
  • Ensure successful implementation of clinical supplies strategy.
  • Be accountable for overall budget and project plan deliverables.
  • Act as co-chair of joint development teams with alliance partner(s) and align global strategy within a partnership, as applicable.
  • Be the collaborator for the internal Alliance Manager for a partnered compound.
  • Ensure lessons learned at critical nodes in the development path.
  • Lead the communication of strategy, issues, and plans to the Project Board, Portfolio Board, alliance partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the interests of the compound along with the global commercial lead.
  • Build and maintain team effectiveness and satisfaction

Professional profile

  • Significant experience as a Project Manager/Leader in a biotechnology, life science, biopharma/pharma company.
  • A proven track record in clinical product development. Experience in leading projects from clinical POC to marketing from previous/current position is an absolute requirement.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in complex matrix environments married to significant late stage development experience of (ideally) monoclonal antibodies or (alternatively) biologics.
  • Flexible, agile and results-oriented, with strong focus on executing strategy and delivering on objectives.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills for effectively interfacing with internal and external stakeholders will be required

Education: Master’s degree in life sciences; a postgraduate degree (PhD) is highly preferred

Location: The position can be based in Princeton, New Jersey (US) or Copenhagen (DK)
