Copenhagen, Denmark; August 5, 2002 - Genmab A/S (CSE: GEN
and Neuer Markt: GE9D) announced today the appointment of Jørgen Petersen,
DMSc as Medical Director. As an integral part of Genmab's clinical team,
Dr. Petersen will provide valuable input to the company's drug
development plans and utilize his broad experience to identify potentially
interesting drug targets for future development work. Dr Petersen joins
Genmab from November 1st 2002
Dr. Petersen is currently Head of the Rheumatology Clinic, The Finsen Center
at Rigshopitalet in Copenhagen, where he is responsible for diagnosis and
treatment of advanced cases of rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue
disorders and vasculitis. He is also in charge of the clinic's
experimental and clinical research program. In parallel with his clinical
career, Dr. Petersen has served as associate and full Professor of Internal
Medicine at the University of Copenhagen.
Dr. Petersen has extensive international experience from his time as a
post-doctoral fellow of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at the Institute
of Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California, where he worked with models for
T-cell immunity in RA. Dr Petersen is also trained as a cellular immunologist
and has authored around 100 publications within the fields of rheumatology,
cellular immunology, inflammation, and immunopharmacology.
